Gary Soto was born April 12, 1952 in Fresno, California. He now lives in Berkeley, and is active in his community, volunteering to help teach English to Hispanic people. Lately, he has found he likes to bake cookies. Mr. Soto additionally enjoys the game of tennis, his garden, musical concerts, and traveling.
