These are minor characters in the Z Yang books.
Amy appears in Z On Location. She is one of Z's fans and writes down everything from Z's interview in her notebook.
She is described as having very blonde hair.
Becka is one of Z's friends and one of the "critic" members of Z's Crew. She lives in a different city than Z and communicates with her and the rest of Z's Crew via video chat; they met at VidCon 2016, and Becka and Z sent each other silly videos. She seems to know a lot about cinematography, as she sends Z a camera rig she says she's been "dying to try out" in The Real Z. She can be excitable and a little impulsive, and outwardly appears to always be happy.
In The Real Z, she admits that being in a wheelchair and doing physical therapy is exhausting for her. She does play Wheelchair Basketball.
She is described as having blonde hair.
Winter Costello is an online vlogger in Z's universe. She is very popular and one of Z's idols.
She is in her late teens, and has a different hair color/style for every video.
Drew is a character in An American Girl Story: Summer Camp, Friends for Life. She becomes friends with Z and Paz at camp, and is an artist. She is not seen or mentioned in either the books or Z.Crew videos.
She is played by Lauren Lindsey Donzis.
Erica appears in Z On Location, and is one of Z's fans. She, Jordyn and Mina managed to arrange an interview with the Z.Crew in the Connectivity Cafe at VidCon 2017. She and her friends have their own vlog.
Gigi is one of Z's friends and one of the "critic" members of the Z.Crew. Though she lives in London, she travels around the world with her diplomat Dad and communicates with Z and the others via video chat; they all met at VidCon 2016. Gigi started vlogging as she traveled with her Dad about the cool foods she would try in different countries, and Z convinced her to try Pocky sticks again and the two would send each other snack packs.
She acts more mature and calm than the others, though she admits in The Real Z that she gets lonely, due to not having a lot of friends she can hang out with because of her travel schedule.
She has a "gorgeous" British accent, and red hair.
Jordan is a character in An American Girl Story: Summer Camp, Friends for Life. She is a Camp Counselor.
She is played by Monique Green.
Jordyn is seen in Z On Location, and is one of Z's fans, and especially loves her AGSM videos. She, Erica and Mina managed to arrange an interview with the Z.Crew in the Connectivity Cafe at VidCon 2017. She and her friends have their own vlog.
Kacey appears in Z On Location. She is eighteen years old, and had graduated two years early from High School. She had patented a robot, dubbed "Roxie", to help kids with learning difficulties learn how to interact with others, inspired by her autistic cousin. She was later at VidCon 2017.
She is very interested in sound equipment, as she had to give microphones to all of her robots so they could interact with children. She programmed Roxie to pick up on more than a thousand words and phrases and respond appropriately, and is working on making her warmer and softer. Roxie is also pink, after Kacey's cousin's favorite color.
Lauren McClain is Z's best friend. She is described as Z's "personal cheerleader," very encouraging towards others, and loves to help others. She does, however, get frustrated when Z gets too focused on her projects and doesn't let anybody help her. She is her middle school's star soccer player, and a member of the Camera Club with Z. Her dream is to play on a professional soccer team.
She helps Z with her stop motions by making the sets and props (a talent of hers) and writing scripts such as "The Horrible Homework Hacker." She isn't a fan of being filmed (which is probably the official reason she didn't appear in the Z.Crew videos). She has a brother named Thomas and a sister.
Though her appearance is not described in the books, she has long blonde hair in a ponytail and dark blue eyes in the Z storyline on the app "American Girl World".
Mina appears in Z On Location. She is the first of her friends to recognize Z, and she and her friends manage to arrange an interview with the Z.Crew in the Connectivity Cafe at VidCon 2017. She, Jordyn and Erica have their own vlog.
Nora is one of Professor Yang's students, and appears in Z On Location. Professor Yang calls her in to help her and Z on the video's crew, and while at first she is a little patronizing of Z, she and her eventually get along.
She is described as looking like the epitome of a cool college film student. She is tall with dark red hair and wears very fashionable clothes. She has been vegan for two years, and has a niece named Rebecca.
Paz is a character in An American Girl Story: Summer Camp, Friends for Life. She is one of Z's friends and a member of the Z.Crew, with an interest in engineering. However, she is not seen or mentioned in the books or Z.Crew videos.
She is played by Alison Fernandez.
Mariela is one of Z's best friends. She is the fashion consultant in Z's Crew, and her parents own a Beanery; she and her band, "Needles in a Haystack", often perform there. She lives next door to Z (though in her introduction video Z says she lives across the street).
She sometimes worries about her physical appearance, as she says in The Real Z. She knows a lot about fashion and considers herself something of an expert. Lauren says that her dream is to start her own clothing line and work on a song album.
She was the only member of Z's Crew to appear in the Z.Crew videos, though there she goes by "M". In those videos she is portrayed by Just Like You 44, which shows her with medium-colored skin, hazel eyes and dark, curly hair; however, in The Real Z, she is described with bronze skin and black hair. In the videos, Z says she's in eighth grade and helps out with costuming for her school drama club; in The Real Z, she also adds that they'd been friends since they were toddlers, and Mari was the one who gave her the nickname "Z". She is a year older than Z (making her 14 at the start of the books).
Professor Michelle Yang is Z's Mom. She teaches Film Studies at a College, but also studies technology.
Mr. Yang is Z's father. He is described as having a quirky sense of humor, but he's very good at listening to Z and giving advice for her problems.
He is described as wearing glasses, and has black hair.
