## Greeting

Hi Nethilia -- we are excited to have American Girl Dolls Wiki as part of the Wikia community!

Starting a new wiki can be a big job, but don't worry, the Wikia Community Team is here to help! We have put together a few guides to getting started. They say imitation is the best form of flattery so absolutely check out other wikis on Wikia for ideas on layout, ways to organize your content, etc. We are all one big family at Wikia and the most important thing is to have fun!

• Our guide to Getting Started gives you 5 things you can do right now to set your wiki up for success
• We also put together some Advice On Starting a Wiki which provides a more a in-depth look at some of the important things you should consider when building a wiki
• If you are new to wikis in general than we recommend checking our new user FAQ

If you need help (which trust me we ALL do) you can access our full in-depth help at Help Wikia, or email us through our contact form. Also, you can visit our live #wikia chat channel any time. A lot of the veteran "Wikians" hang out here so its a good place if come if you want to get some advice or simply make friends.

Now, go edit! We look forward to seeing this project thrive!

Best wishes, Angela

## Hello!

Hi, Nethilia! I'm Shawn, a Helper on the Hobbies hub here at Wikia. We're really glad to have you here, and your wiki is looking fantastic - great job on it so far. If you need any help with anything at all, please feel free to come message me on my talk page, I can help with pretty much any problems you might have. Shawn (talk) 17:54, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

## Spotlights

One other thing - we have a program called Spotlight available for Wikia users with an impressive pagecount. What we do is create a custom graphic that we use to advertise the spotlighted wiki across the other Hobbies hub wikis. Sound like something you might be interested in? Shawn (talk) 17:56, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

## A quick tip

One thing I've found helpful in starting new wikis and getting a good userbase built up is leaving new members messages on their Talk pages. There's tepmlates you can use in Wikia's database, you you can just leave a few quick lines for every new person who works on your wiki. It lets people know they're being noticed and that their work is appreciated. I'm welcoming some of the people I've been noticing editing here, but if you need any help along those lines, please let me know on my own Talk page! Shawn (talk) 22:46, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

## Sidebar items

Hi, Nethilia - I've noticed something about the sidebar on your wiki. There are a few items in it that are stubs or don't have existing articles - the Bitty Baby, Bitty Twins and Girls From Many Lands. I left messages on the talk pages for those articles, but I also wanted to leave something with you personally. Do you think that, especially with the Bitty articles, it might be a good idea to remove them from the sidebar and just give them a category? Or put them under a Bitty section, or a Featured Dolls section if you really want to highlight them?

Either way, you might want to flesh out those articles a bit before you make them so prominent on the site, especially because the Spotlight we're putting up will be drawing a lot of attention here soon (combined with the American Girls ads Wikia's been running, you'll want to make as good an impression as possible, right?) The other parts of the Sidebar look great! Shawn (talk) 19:22, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

## Welcoming new users

Hi Nethilia - first off I want to congratulate you on continuing to grow your wiki - you're doing a great job! And you're getting a lot of new users coming in and making edits, too, which is fantastic. There's something I've noticed that might help you make it a really thriving community, too - you've got a tendency to revert edits by new people and just leave a note on the reverted page summary - if you leave them a quick message on their talk page welcoming them and explaining nicely why you reverted it, you could get them to follow your style and make them into a valuable editor. If you have any questions about it please ask me! Shawn (talk) 19:16, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

## Need help with wikis

I have just discovered AG Wiki a few months ago and I am still not sure of a few things. 1st, what is the defenition of an article stub? I have created a few short articles and I want to know whether I should tag them as stubs. 2nd, I still do not know how to sign after I leave a comment on a talk page, like this one.

This next one is not so much of a problem. You have asked me to become a user a few times, but I'm only 10 years old and I don't know if my mom will let me yet. If she does, I certainly will create an account.

## Wanted!

Can you create a page on Angelina Ballerina? If not, why not? Thank You. 24.119.47.111 21:31, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

We should have discussion on it; while it was an AG line, it's no longer, and continues to run today. --Nethilia 05:44, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Ok. Well, we don't say anything about that Angelina Ballerina existed, but she used to be part of the line. Don't you think she should have something given her? AG Reader 16:37, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Angelina Ballerina is mentioned on the Retirement page. Hermione524 03:41, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

That's true. AG Reader 15:46, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

I really don't think that a page for Angelina Ballerina should be created because it was hardly ever an american girl brand and is now known as a completely different thing. If we have a page for her, we might as well have a page on Amelia's Notebooks and all of the other lines that AG doesn't make. However, this could be used as an argument for it, also, because we do have a page for the Girls of Many Lands. So my new suggesion instead of NO WAY! is ????? 68.101.117.129 03:07, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, Angelina Ballerina and Amelia's notebooks weren't just strictly AG, but the Girls of many Lands were AG created characters. I think that's the major difference. --Nethilia 06:39, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

How about we just mention that AG made them and not make a new page. AG Reader 02:00, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

## How?

How do you create a new page on Wikia? Thank you. AG Reader 20:22, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

## Wikia Page

The home page for this Wikia isn't looking as good as it usually does. Are you going to fix this soon? AG Reader 20:19, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Fixed. --Nethilia 06:30, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

## Unlock

When are you going to unlock my discussion page? Hasn't it been over two weeks? And don't I have the right to delete things off my talk page that I don't want? AG Reader 20:52, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

1) It's two weeks tomorrow. 2) Your Talk page isn't yours. Nothing on a Wiki is yours alone. The user pages are given to you as a somewhat personal space, but they can be edited by another person. Given that your User:Talk page is a record of conversaions, warnings, and the work on the project--no, you CAN'T delete anything off your talk page. It's not your personal space. When it's unlocked, if an admin catches it being blanked out again, you will be placed on a two-week ban from all editing. --Nethilia 08:27, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Now that my page is unlocked, can I delete the thing on Angelina? AG Reader 01:52, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

No. --Nethilia 03:16, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi Nethilia! I'm really sorry - but I was wondering about copyrights for an image if you upload it. There is this site (http://curtdanhauser.com/AG_Collecting/ if you want the link) and they have some images of AG Doll Outfits I'd like to upload. How do I credit them with the image? Do I need to contact them? Thank so much! Mermaidgirl45 15:38, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Try to find as many images as you can from image searches. If that can't be done, try and credit images the best you can. Images of outfits need to be at least 300 by 300 pixels--small images don't give a good picture. --Nethilia 20:11, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Nethilia - Sorry to bother you again! I was just wondering about something. If you click "Recent Changes," there's positive and negative numbers in red and green. I was just wondering what these were for. Thanks so much! Mermaidgirl45 00:10, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

How many characters were added to or removed from an article during an edit. --Nethilia 00:21, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

## Glossary of Foreign Words

Hi Nethilia! Sorry - you are probably getting sick of me! I was just wondering about whether or not I should post something, or just a certain amount of it. You know how in Josefina's and Kirsten's and Kaya's books there is a glossary in the back? I was just wondering if I should list the glossary words for The Runaway Friend. I really don't want you or the site to get in trouble over a copyright claim. So, anyway, do you want me to not post them, only post maybe the first entry, or just go ahead? Thanks SO much! Mermaidgirl45 18:05, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

It would probably be better to leave the glossaries off for now, and we can come back later and see if they are needed. --Nethilia 03:43, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

## Creating a New Page

Hi-- Me again. Sorry. Anyway, I was going to create a new page. I thought it would be helpful to try to create a page where there was a complete (or, as complete as possible) list of all the outfits American Girl has released. I've seen the warnings about short, poor articles, so don't worry. I'll only make a page if it'll actually be a contribution and I have enough information intially. But, I'm not sure how to do this, or go about this. Is there any advice you can give? Thanks! Mermaidgirl45 18:17, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

We already have lists like that. Several. Under each character's collections and lists of all the Just Like you Things. A central list is completely redundant. I'm going to go ahead and mark that page to delete. --Nethilia 03:43, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

## Another Language for AG Wikia

Hi Nethilia! I was browsing Wikipedia and saw the alternate languages on the sidebar and got an idea. I think I can translate this site into Spanish. I'm in Spanish 1. Well, actually, I'm on summer break, but I love Spansih and have three pen-pals and read books and listen to songs in Spanish. I think I could, with the help of a translator and verb conjugator online. Next year when I graduate from Spanish 2, I will officially speak Spanish fluently. I think I could, maybe. Could we try it? I think it would be great, personally. Is this possible? And, are there any other users here who speak Spanish? Thanks! =) Mermaidgirl45 23:23, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't think that should be done right now. That should only be done by someone completely fluent in the language naturally. --Nethilia 23:25, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay. Thank's anyway! =)

## Cecile Revel: Gates of Gold

Hey Nethilia! Browsing about and saw Cecile's page. (Sorry, I know she has the accent mark on her "e," but I don't have that on my computer. If I make the page, I'll make sure I have the accent mark.) Anyway, she doesn't have a page for her book. I mean, she has a summary, but I have the book, and want to make a chapter-by-chapter thing. Or her own page for her book. So, 1. Do you think this is a good idea? 2. What should the title be? 3. Can I do this with the other girls? Thanks!

Every book should have its own page. --Nethilia 02:08, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Oh, also, I saw that you took off the page count and retail cost on one page. I think that the page-count will help a person to see if the book is in their age range. And, I put the cost on there so if someone likes the book, they'll know how much AG sells it for. Now, I know you can get them on Amazon for \$00.01, so I understand why you took it off. I was just wondering. =) Thank you! Mermaidgirl45 22:36, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

The page counts and costs are fairly useless for books. Page counts and costs can vary much larger on books than on items. --Nethilia 02:08, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
'Kay, thanks Nethilia! I'll get started on the Girls of Many Lands book pages, and if I see page count/retail cost I'll take it off. Thanks again! =) Mermaidgirl45 13:15, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

## Userboxes

Can you please create Template:Userbox? You can see it on the Harry Potter Wiki, but I don't know how to create a template. Hermione524 23:31, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

What does it do and why is it needed? --Nethilia 00:47, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
The userboxes aren't completely needed. They are something that users can put on their userpages to tell people a little bit more about themselves without having all of the text that sometimes might bore people. You can see many many many examples of userboxes on my userpage on the Harry Potter Wiki. They could tell if you support a certain character in the books more than others or whether there is another character in the books that you don't like as much. Hermione524 15:14, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Looking at the boxes, I'm going to decline this. They are bulky and unneeded. Users can simply type the information wanted on user pages; there is no need for personalized little boxes. --Nethilia 18:12, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, I say there should be userboxes! Type on the "contract" if your with me! xUser:IzzyIsMyRoleModel x x x x x x x (add as many as you need!) --IzzyIsMyRoleModel 15:43, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Not needed. They will not be appearing. --Nethilia 18:00, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Oooookkkaaaaaaayyyy....... if that's the way you feel.....--IzzyIsMyRoleModel 19:23, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

## New Books for Historical Characters!

Hey, Nethilia. I was browsing Amazon and found this: "Josefina Just for Fun: The Make-It, Play-It, Solve It Book of Fun!" I looked around and found one for Molly too! The link is here. http://www.amazon.com/Molly-Just-Fun-American-Library/dp/1593695810/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243457635&sr=8-1 I've looked at two different book websites and they both have these on pre-order. Both sites say it ia slated for September 2009. Still, though! =) I think they're making them for all the Historical Characters. I'm not sure - I'm still poking about. Just thought you'd want to know! =) Mermaidgirl45 20:58, 27 May 2009 (UTC) Sorry - They have them for Felicity, Molly, Kit, Julie and Josefina. That's it. =) Mermaidgirl45 20:59, 27 May 2009 (UTC) Also, by the way, I am going to be gone for a week at a camping trip, just so you know. =) I'll be back next Saturday. Have a great day! =) Mermaidgirl45 20:00, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

## Categories for Outfits

Hey Nethilia! I was making a page for Rebecca's School Outfit and I tried to put it under the School Outfits category. Did you change it to "School Collections" instead? I couldn't find it. =) Also, is the "School Collections" cateogry only for Historical Characters? And, what about the other categories? (i.e. Winter Outfits, Summer Outfits, Meet Outfits, Birthday Outfits, etc.) Thanks!

Sorry, Nethilia! That was for books. Sorry, never mind... Mermaidgirl45 17:13, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Also, for the List of American Girl Outfits, we agreed we could just use the category page. Is it possible to group it differently? Because, while the List of American Girl Outfits page was redundant, Category:Outfits isn't really an article and the outfits are everywhere. Does it automatically go in alphabetical order or can we group it by line and character? Just wondering... =) Thanks! Mermaidgirl45 15:59, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

## Redirects - HELP!

Hey Nethilia. I'm been working on Cécile: Gates of Gold. (By the way, I left a message for you on the talk page about the summaries.) The "é" in her name isn't not on American keyboards. I tried to do a redirect so you can get to the page without the acent mark, and for Cécile Revel as well, but the redirects won't work. Do you know why? Thanks so much! Mermaidgirl45 22:13, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

## Why do you keep deleting my edits?

see above... --Puppers37 23:25, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Puppers37

The nature of a Wiki is that edits can be reverted, removed, edited, or cut altogether. If an edit or contributions are removed, there's probably a good reason for it. Be a Big Girl. --Nethilia 23:36, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

## Just for Fun Books

Hey Nethilia! Remember the Just for Fun books I found on pre-order on Amazon and that other book store? I found an image of Rebecca's!

You have to scroll down to the very bottom. It's spiral bound. =) Just thought you'd like to see them. Mermaidgirl45 12:33, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

## Alternate Names for Outfits

Hi Nethilia! I was going to creat a page for Julie's Hoops Outfit, and call it that, but I see "Hoops Outfit and Accessories" everywhere else. Julie is pretty recent, so I'm not sure if they actually changed the name, or what, but, anyway, should I call it "Julie's Hoops Outfit" or "Hoops Outfit and Accessories?" Thanks so much! Mermaidgirl45 19:21, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Hoops Outfit and Accessories was the first name. I think. Do it that way and I can move it if I find something else. --Nethilia 06:19, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

## Oops! Duplicate Page!

Nethilia, help! I went to Special Pages and clicked Wanted Pages to create a new article. I saw Kirsten's Promise and made a page for it, but there is already one there. We have two Kirsten's Promise. I'm not quite sure what to do... I know the page is updated every now and then, so I should have checked. I guess I assumed that if a page was already made, it would take me to that page, and wouldn't allow me to create a duplicate. Anyway, I'll check the pages from now on. =) Mermaidgirl45 20:06, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

It's probably a matter of comma error. I'll fix it. ETA: Fixed. --Nethilia 06:19, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

## Reviews on American Girl

Hi Nethilia! You know the feature on the American Girl website where you can write/read reviews? Should we take these into consideration while writing articles? For example, Julie's Pajamas. 90% of the reviews said that the pajamas for girls will "pill" when washed and aren't very washable. Should this be noted on the article? And, how do we tell if the information is reliable? Thanks! Mermaidgirl45 20:25, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

The reviews aren't important. We can ignore them. --Nethilia 03:21, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

## Category Web - Important!

Nethilia - How are the categories connected? Should they be in like an outline, clean cut, with subcategories being the sole way to get to other categories? Or should they just be all interconnected so a reader or user can see everything all laid out but its really complicated? I'm not sure... I'm making a category web, so, if its like an outline everything works without really interconnecting. I'm not sure - I won't do anything dramatic without your consent. I promise. =) Mermaidgirl45 23:53, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

The catergories don't need to be sub-catergorized; don't bother with them for now. --Nethilia 03:02, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

## List of Outfits

Hi Nethilia! I was thinking... I've been working off the List of American Girl of Today and Just Like You Outfits to make outfit articles. Can I do a page like "List of Historical Character Outfits" and "List of Girls of the Year Outfits?" The page doesn't sort by character and it doesn't show all the outfits because all of the pages aren't created yet. And it doesn't show what outfits are retired... I'm not challenging your decision or authority, but I thought if we have one for the JLY line, should we have one for the Historical Characters and GotY. Just wanted to know your thoughts on this. Thank you! =) Mermaidgirl45 20:08, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

It really seems extraordinarily meta and unneeded. The List for AGoT/JLY Just is because those are all for the one series of dolls; doing one for thh Girls of the Year and the Historicals just adds to the list count when those are already on lists. I really think it's best to cut down on lists that are better done with categories. It doesn't really matter they're not grouped by character. --Nethilia 05:46, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
All right, Nethilia. I think I'll go to each Historical's collection page, and just make all the outfit articles on that, and then the category will fill. I think that will work... Sorry - I'm an absolute perfectionist... As you already know. =D I understand now why the JLY's got one - and it does make sense. Thanks for clearing that up! =) Mermaidgirl45 14:49, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

## Spelling

I've noticed there are quite a few words on the site that are spelled British style (ie. theatre, rumour, etc.). Should words on the wiki be spelled American style (theater, rumor, etc.) or just left alone?

I know it's probably not a big issue compared to creating new pages or adding chapter summaries, but I think consistent spelling would make the wiki look a bit tidier. AkaiKaze 07:51, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

I think we should go with American spelling for consistency. --Nethilia 19:27, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for the edit to your talk page, Nethilia, but I did not want my question to be lost in the vandalism. AkaiKaze 19:24, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
No problem. --Nethilia 19:26, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

## (no subject)

I'm going to vandalize pages. I can't be blocked because I'm not logged on. --This Unsigned comment was posted by IP 68.81.95.145 on 06:07, 21 June 2009.

IP Ban it is. --Nethilia 18:27, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

About this block, what is the evidence that Eulalia459678 is abusing multiple accounts? --JWSchmidt 21:45, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

## Block of Eulalia459678

You blocked Eulalia for vandalism earlier, but he's a former helper, and this edit was blatantly anti-vandalism. If you would mind unblocking him, we'd appreciate it. --^yamakiri 21:46, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

I will go ahead and do this. I've been a little freaked out by these multiple vandalisms. --Nethilia 21:49, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

## Hi :)

Hi Nethilia, sorry about the mixup :)--Austin (Talk) 21:57, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

I apologize profusely for banning you. I'm just about tearing my hair out at this mess of spam. --Nethilia 21:59, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh, it's fine ^^. If the vandalism continues, poke a staff member (either with Special:Contact or going to the Wikia irc channel and looking for active staff. Anyways, good luck :)--Austin (Talk) 22:15, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Nethilia! About the pictures I upload... I get them all from American Girl... Are they copyrighted? What option should I select when uploading an image if I get them from American Girl? Would I select "This is in the public domain?" Thanks so much! Please, don't rush. I know you're busy. (If there is anything I can do to help with the spamming and vandalism, please, please let me know.) =) Thanks! Mermaidgirl45 14:46, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Don't select anything for them; don't worry so much about licesning on pictures unless they're private pictures. As for the vandalism--if you see any, revert it as fast as you can. That's the easiest way to take care of it. --Nethilia 18:43, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

## Sorry - Wrong Title for Page...

Hi Nethilia! I was making a redirect page for the 2-in-1 Ballerina Set. I made a page called Two-in-One Ballerina Outfit, when it was supposed to be Two-in-One Ballerina Set. I already made the right page with the redirect. Do you think the wrong one that says "outfit" should be deleted, or should we leave it just in case someone types "outfit?" I just wanted to know your thoughts on this. Sorry for the mess. Thanks so much! Mermaidgirl45 21:46, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Titles should have numbers spelled out (it's English grammar rules to spell out all numbers below either nine or ninety-nine and all numbers in titles). I have moved the page to the Two-in-One Ballerina Set, and deleted the outfit page as an unneeded redirect. --Nethilia 00:04, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

## Furniture and Accessories

Hi Nethilia! I was looking at the article on Addy's Double Desk, a piece of furniture, and under it was the category "Retired Accessories." Is furniture considered accessories? Thanks! =) Mermaidgirl45 Yes. --Nethilia 07:51, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

There is now this thing across the top of my page and it has links to my user page and talk page and other things like that. I'm fine with it, but what is the 'blog' link for? Hermione524 15:37, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

## Wrong Title for Page... Amongst Other Things =)

Hello Nethilia! I was creating new categories, and I accidently misnamed one. It's Category:Coats, and I think it would be better if it was just called "Outerwear." Or, do you think I should have "Outerwear" and just make sub-categories like "Jackets," "Cloaks," and "Coats?" I also want to run these other ones by you: (To be honest, I've already made the Batteries Required and Beds.)

• Category: Batteries Required
• Category: Beds
• Category: Bedding/Pillows
• Category: Undergarments
• Category: Tables/Tables and Chairs
• Category: Hair Care

Thanks so much! Mermaidgirl45 19:06, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

These are fine except bedding/pillows, I think that's way too meta. Just roll it under Beds. Make the category "Outerwear"; you can fix it by just going into articles and changing the categories. If you can't fix it I will.
Don't worry so much about the categories, to be honest. They're not as important. --Nethilia 19:12, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I'm get right on it! Thanks, Nethilia! =) Mermaidgirl45 19:43, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

## Happy Birthday!!!

Happy Belated Birthday, Nethilia! I can't believe that AG Wiki is a day and a year old, and we've already got, like, 900 articles and so many users! I'm so happy! Just wanted to stop by and give you a Congrats, on the site and all. Thanks for everything. =D Mermaidgirl45 19:03, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

## Summaries for the Book Articles

Hi Nethilia! I was thinking we should have both the Quick Summary and the Chapter-by-Chapter Summaries. Because, the Chapter-by-Chapter summaries are kinda long, and they sort of spoil the surprises in the book, so some people might perfer the Quick Summaries. Just wanted to know what you think. =) Thanks! Mermaidgirl45 14:14, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't really like em, for the most part. The point of the summaries is to explain what's in the book, and the quick ones have so far just been blurbs. They're not very large books, most of em. Also, we're a spoiler-heavy zone, and the assumption is that if you click on a book link, you expect spoilers. Also, since I plan to integrate pics into several articles later on (it takes a day to scan and clean images from one AG book!) the quick summaries will get in the way. --Nethilia 02:44, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I see what you mean! =) I've been way too detailed in my summaries. Thanks so much, Nethilia! Mermaidgirl45 15:45, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

## Category:Trivia

Hi Nethilia! I was just wondering about the category:trivia. It may not be needed, but it's great for people who like to look up the trivia online. I'd like to keep it, but if you really thinks it's just unneeded then, whichever. Thanks! Mermaidgirl45 17:44, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

The problem with that is that it would lead to almost the entire wiki being under that category., It's overly meta. Trivia should just be fun facts people come across, not something classified. --Nethilia 03:52, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

## Delete Page

I found this page, Susanna Allen. It's clearly vandalism, and I deleted the content, which was extremely inappropriate. Just wanted to give you a heads-up. =) Mermaidgirl45 22:45, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Deleted it, Thanks! --Nethilia 04:54, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
No problem, but I found yet another: Acting in VSA Arts. At least, it's not as horrible as the last. =) Thanks! Mermaidgirl45 12:49, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Nailed it, Thanks a bunch! --Nethilia 20:24, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
No problem! Honestly, Nethilia, the work I do on this site pales in comparision to what you do. You're amazing. Anyway, tell me if you need help with anything, or whichever. Thank You! =) Ariel 21:01, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

## Historical Character Information?

Hello Nethilia! I was just wondering about the motifs for the Historical Characters... Should that be on their pages along with their color? (I.E. Kaya is blue, Felicity is green, Rebecca is purple, Felicity is red, etc.) Additionally, you know those tables at the bottom of the Just Like You and Historical Character page? Could I do these for the Historical Characters Collections? I think that might be useful... Anyway, just let me know what you think! Thank you! =) Ariel - Mermaidgirl45 22:24, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

I'll take care of the motifs: I have plans for those om my own, as well as the colors. I just haven't had any time because, you know, 40 hour a week job. --Nethilia 02:35, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
Okay, sure! I'm sure it will be great! I understand how you're busy. =) Feel free to ask if you need any help with anything at all. =) Ariel - Mermaidgirl45 15:08, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

## American Girl Website Article

Hi Nethilia! I was thinking about doing a page for the American Girl website, but I don't know when it was published. Since that would be pretty important, I wanted to ask you. Thank you!

Don't think it's needed. --Nethilia 02:30, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

## Josefina Series Glossaries, Andres Montoya

Hey, I'm going through Josefina's book pages and I was wondering if you wanted to include the Spanish words in the glossaries or leave it at just saying there is a glossary. I love me some Spanish, so I'd be happy to do it, but not if it isn't really necessary/would get in the way of stuff. Thanks.--Allicapri 20:38, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

ETA: Whoops, I should have read your talk archive first. Nevermind, unless you've changed your mind since then. I did have another question about Josefina's father's name, though, that I could squeak in here. Is his first name Andres or Andrés? The accent, and thus an accent mark, typically goes over the 'e', but I don't know if it's spelled differently in one of the books.

I'd put the accent mark, then make a redirect with the one without the mark. --Nethilia 02:13, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

## Delete Page

Hello Nethilia! Just wanted to give you a heads up on a page that needs to be deleted: American girl twins . Anyway, I hope you're having a great week! =) See you! Ariel/Mermaidgirl45 16:12, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Nethilia! Yet another vandalism page... Adair tishler/ being friends with alashia reed. Just to let you know. =) I really hope you're having a great day! See you around! Ariel/Mermaidgirl45 00:54, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Got em, thanks! --Nethilia 05:51, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

## Delete Page (again)

thanks! can u ad stuff to the just like doll page. --User:Hlenese 07:02, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for modding your talk page again about vandalism, Nethilia. They left an unnecessary music video on your page and several other videos and weird things on the wiki. I hope I'm not out of bounds for signing someone else's comment. --AkaiKaze 07:41, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

## History Mysteries Characters

Hey Nethilia! Just wondering on what I should do with the characters in the History Mysteries. The series is minor, and so are the characters, but can I make a Characters in Whatever the Book Is page? I don't know. Up to you. Thanks so much! Enjoy your week! =D Ariel 19:38, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Make "Characters in "Title of book" and give them all one article. --Nethilia 00:08, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi Nethilia! As a little Post-It! Note add on, kinda thing, I have all the Minute Mysteries books, True Stories and a bunch of Just Like You books. Where could I put a link for these on the List of Generic American Girl Items? And, you know how the Ready for Fun outfit came with the book Friends Forever? I was going to make a page on that too, but it doesn't have chapters, and I can't scan every page because of copyright issues. Would I just generally describe what's in there? Thank you so much! =) Mermaidgirl45 19:46, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

The Forever Friends books, since it came with the Ready For Fun outfit, can be discused on that page. Books and Book Items can hold the Minute Mysteries and such. The little books that come with the Just Like You outfits are probably best discussed breifly on the articles in one or two lines for now. --Nethilia 00:08, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

## Talk pages

This probably sounds like a dumb question, but someone left a message on my talk page and I have no idea if I should delete it or not. I'm not familiar with the Coconut product line, but the question doesn't seem to be outright vandalism either (bad grammar/spelling and not signing their message aside) as far as I can tell. --AkaiKaze 01:04, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Leave it there. I'll handle it. --Nethilia 01:21, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, Nethilia. I wasn't sure how to handle it. In hindsight, I should've read the Wikia's policy about the user talk pages. --AkaiKaze 05:08, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

## Misnamed Page - Sorry!

Hello, Nethilia! I made a page for Renée Graef, an illustrator, but misnamed the title "Renée Graef'". I accidently added the silly apostrophe. Just a heads up! Hope you are enjoying the summer! =) Ariel 12:26, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Fixed. --Nethilia 19:33, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

## Best Friend Template

Do you think the wiki needs a template for the (historical) Best Friends Characters? I was thinking it could make navigation a bit easier. --AkaiKaze 06:58, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Couldn't hurt. --Nethilia 19:35, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
It took a while, but I finally got the Best Friend template up. I haven't added the template to any of the Best Friend pages as I wanted to see if there's anything that could be added (like the two Best Friends in Chrissa's collection) or anything that needs to be modified. --AkaiKaze 02:12, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

## Comment mistake

I uploaded a picture of pre-movie!Emily to the wiki and, in a mistake, accidentally wrote in the comment as Emily McIntire. Is there a way to fix it? --AkaiKaze 22:40, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

## Duplicate File

Hi Nethilia! I found this: File:Rebecca's meet accesories.jpg. It's a duplicate, so I thought I'd let you know. =) Mermaidgirl45 23:58, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

• Handled. --Nethilia 08:27, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

## Mama Montoya Page

Hey, Nethilia. Just wondering, but shouldn't the page be called Mamá Montoya instead? Just a thought... =) Mermaidgirl45 15:48, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

I am hoping in my summaries and analysis that I come across her full name somewhere, so I'm leaving the page unaccented for now. --Nethilia 22:58, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

## Disappearing Book?

Hi Nethilia. Okay, so I looked at the History Mysteries and found this book called Intruders in Mendy's Country. I looked at Amazon, Google, everywhere, and I only found ten sites that list it as a History Mystery. I can't find a picture or summary, but it is apparently by Evelyn Coleman. On every site that lists it, it's number 14. On the other sites (and there are a lot) they list a book called Circle of Fire as 14. I've read this book, can find the cover, and can order it on Amazon. I know there is a Intruder in Mendy's Country, but I have no idea. I just listed them both as 14 for now. What do you think? =) Mermaidgirl45 22:23, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Mendy is the main character of Circle of Fire. (I have all the HM up to #18 in my personal collection and will scan covers as I get to em). A Google search shows the books have the same plot. This appears to have been the working title for the book, and it was later changed to not have the main character's name. I've removed it from the page; when the page for the book goes up, it can be mentioned that this was a working title. --Nethilia 22:58, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

## Portrait request

I uploaded a better version of Ivy's portrait on Ivy's page, will Ivylogo.GIF still be necessary?

Also, I accidentally mixed up the picture file names for Tracy and Joyce Albright. I tried to fix it, but the picture history for Tracy still shows Joyce's portrait. Is it fixable, or are you going to have to go in and delete it? Sorry for the multiple edits, I didn't want to spam your usertalk page. --AkaiKaze 06:13, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Deleted both. --Nethilia 07:27, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

## New Items!!!

Nethilia! Check it out!

Also a slew of new books, including six of the Just for Fun books for the Historicals. I added the items to the required templates, pages, and things, but please double check. Also, the site is acting up, so it'll say that is everything, but it's missing like ten things. You just have to feel around. Also, can we get a list of everything that's retired? I'm SUPER excited! Let's do it!! =) See you! Mermaidgirl45 12:40, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

Theres a whole slew of new stuff and I've seen more dolls than that. Are you sure of the numbers on the New JLY? If not they can be tweaked and moved later. It'll all get done, for now Front page annoncement! --Nethilia 18:09, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
Well, they were all released simultaneously, so wasn't sure how to do the numbers. I just wanted to get the page up so people would have information. I probably shouldn't have been so hasty. But dolls 33-36, yes, beyond a shadow of a doubt, I am sure. Just the order. =) Mermaidgirl45 23:47, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

## Fifty Two Just Like Yous?

Wow. Okay, so vaguely shocked when I read the front page. =) Those aren't up online. Where did you get that? Are they going to do like, every combination possible? That would be neat... but, sorry, but I just have to know. =) Mermaidgirl45 02:12, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

All the dolls are up online and have now been coded into the pages and visual chart. --Nethilia 18:30, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

## More Items

Rebecca's Hanukkah Dress and the Just Like You Dancing Star Outfit were just added. Just wanted to give you a heads up. =) Mermaidgirl45 02:17, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

## Spotlight Request

Hi -- American Girl Dolls Wiki looks really nice -- congratulations on reaching 1000 articles! Could you please drop the protection level on the mainpage to block only unregistered users/new accounts from editing? I see only one vandalism incident from a registered user in the history and that was many months ago, so hopefully they are not still around; if it becomes a problem again you can reprotect the page. However it really is better to have the main page unprotected if possible. Then I'd be happy to add the wiki to the list for another spotlight. -- Wendy (talk) 01:29, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

I've done so. --Nethilia 06:04, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Great -- I've added you to the list. -- Wendy (talk) 00:50, September 14, 2009 (UTC)

## Bitty Twins Line

Hi Nethilia! Just wanted to throw some ideas out there... I know that the lines for younger kids (Bitty Twins and Babies) aren't really the highest thing on the list, but I still feel they could use more than 23 articles. I was wondering if I could make like a page specifically for the dolls. Not all the combinations, but for the ten dolls, because only a few pictures of the combinations are up. Maybe a visual chart or something. Also, do you think we should have a template for the Bitty Twins? I love templates. It makes it so much easier. I was also thinking about a template for the Collections for the Historical Characters. Like Winter Collections, Birthday Collections, etc. And, maybe one for Julie's Collection, Samantha's Collection, Molly's Collection, etc. I know that would be a project, but I'm willing to do it. I think it would be really handy, and would help visitors navigate, and it wouldn't take much time at all. What do you think? =) Mermaidgirl45 17:00, September 16, 2009 (UTC)

* The Bitty Twins variations have been placed on their main page, same as the Bitty Babies. There's no need to put up all 100 combinations available. They've been grouped by race.
* No templates are needed for the Bitty Twins or Bitty Babies, as there is not enough real variation to warrant a template.
* No templates are needed for Historical collections; there's already one for the characters. Unlike character navigation, templates on historical collections pages will make the pages messy and cluttered.
--Nethilia 03:07, September 17, 2009 (UTC)
I wouldn't put up all combinations. That would be crazy. =) But, I would just like to make a page, or even a picture of the girl and the guy for every race, which'd only be ten. I know that Bitty Twins aren't high-priority becaues the kids are small, and the line itself is small. But, still, I think we can do that. I'll do it, too. I really don't want to seem to blame you, or say you have to make the pages/upload the pictures. I'd love to it. =) Just whatever you think. =) Mermaidgirl45 12:16, September 17, 2009 (UTC)
The bitty twins have been listedn on their article page, just like the bitty babies. They don't need another page. --Nethilia 15:26, September 17, 2009 (UTC)
Okay, sorry. That's great. Thank you! =) Mermaidgirl45 18:28, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

## More Ideas?

Hi Nethilia - I know you're probably getting annoyed with me at this point. But, still, what would you think of a timeline for the Historical Characters for their series? We could have the main events from books, birthdates (family members too), short stories, etc. I think that'd be great.

Also, and, I know this wouldn't be as useful for the others, but maybe only for Rebecca: a family tree?

Anyway, just some crazy ideas... Couldn't sleep last night. =) Mermaidgirl45 12:23, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Hey, this is Soratothammax. I do some American Girl editing too. But I was wondering if you had the other American Girl picture uploads for the Meet Stories. Where you the one who posted the original ones up from Kaya to Samantha? If you do, it'd be a great idea to upload them.

Soratothamax 04:58, September 26, 2009 (UTC)SoratothamxSoratothamax 04:58, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

Which stories don't have pictures? I thought they all did... Mermaidgirl45 18:28, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

## Pet Pages?

Hi Nethilia! I was just wondering about the pet pages. Jip and Grace were only in the stories a little, so why do they have pages like Steps High and Penny? Can we sort out who gets what pages? I understand why Sunny and Posie have only pages about the product, but still, I think that if they could somehow have a little bit mote information about them, then that would be great. What do you think? =) Mermaidgirl45 14:00, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

I think the pet pages are fine the way they are and that they shouldn't be moved around. Most pets are not major characters and shouldn't be treated as such (for example, Sunny's not Addy's pet at any time in the series). Read the books and do the research. --Nethilia 14:25, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Missed these two: Holiday Set and Fun in the Sun Set. Also, the Holiday Set I was re-added while you were deleting the other articles/pictures. --AkaiKaze 01:05, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

Argh, it was the Halloween Set I, not the Holiday Set I. Sorry! --AkaiKaze 01:08, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

## Something

I saw someone post a picture of X Nethilia on your website. I think you deleted. The person's name was PRKURK. 68.191.37.133 21:15, December 19, 2009 (UTC) Unregistered User

Could you please clarify? --Nethilia 21:18, December 19, 2009 (UTC)

## omg

Nethilia- someone erased the Laine Holland page and said, quote, "HI!! I am a big fan of SuperSamJam's videos on youtube. www.youtube.com/supersamjam" That ticks me off because I made the page and I feel sorry for AkaiKaze because she went to all that work writing it and now it's gone. Also, the Laine's Collection page was ruined. I can't fix it because my computer is being stupid today. I have the IP address. What should we do?

Somewhat related to the top message, someone's gone and violated the Article Creation Policy for the Lanie Holland doll page. I'll go in and fix it.
Nethilia, I hope you don't mind if I do some pre-emptive article creation stubs for Lanie. Lanie's pages seem to be repeatedly vandalized throughout the whole day. --AkaiKaze 00:18, December 26, 2009 (UTC)
Go right ahead, the both of you--as long as articles are fixed, I'm glad! I blame bratty children and the winter break. Comes with a young fandom. Also, the IP has been blocked. --Nethilia 06:07, December 26, 2009 (UTC)

## Petal Pink Outfit 2001/2010 confusion

Nethilia, the Petal Pink Outfit currently at AG's official site has the same name as the Petal Pink Outfit that was released back in 2001. I'm not sure if a disambiguation page may be needed to differentiate the two releases. --AkaiKaze 19:40, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

....damn it, AG. I'll make a distinction. --Nethilia 19:52, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

## Kirsten's archival

It looks like Kirsten's entire collection's been retired, neither she nor any related items (minus her books) show up in AG's shop. The AG Archives mentions a 2010 archival. Maybe another doll or item should be the Hot Topic on the wiki's front page? --AkaiKaze 21:14, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

I went ahead and swapped it to Lanie, since she is the new hotness. --Nethilia 22:38, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

I was trying to find out about the basketball outfit II, but when I looked here, all that was there was a picture! Has that been fixed?--75.42.234.161 17:43, January 3, 2010 (UTC)

## Aunt Millie and Will's portraits

I've added a better version of Aunt Millie's portrait (File:AuntMillie.jpg), will the original portrait (File:AuntMillie.JPG) still be needed?

Also, the same with Will's portraits: File:WillShepherd.jpg, which I uploaded, and the original version File:WillShepherd.JPG --AkaiKaze 03:04, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

I've deleted the previous images with housekeeping. Thanks! --Nethilia 07:42, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

## Lawn Party Outfit title confusion

Should the Samantha's Lawn Party Outfit article be retitled, or the Lawn Party Outfit link redirected to the article? I'm really sorry for making such a really dumb mistake during the article's creation. :( --AkaiKaze 06:23, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

I moved it. It happens. --Nethilia 06:16, January 14, 2010 (UTC)

## Denim Jumper Outfit confusion

I've been going through the AGoT/Just Like You list and one thing I've noticed is that there are two Denim Jumper Outfits -- one for the AGoT/JLY line released in 2001, and one for the Bitty Twins line released in 2006. There's no article for the AGoT/JLY version of the Denim Jumper Outfit. Maybe a disambiguation page might be needed?

Here's the AGoT/JLY Denim Jumper Outfit picture I uploaded. It hasn't been added to anything, only categorized under Just Like You. --AkaiKaze 08:08, January 22, 2010 (UTC)

I've moved the Bitty Twin version to a different heading and will do a disambi page later. Thanks for all your hard work here, especially the pics being uploaded! I do appreciate it! --Nethilia 16:56, January 23, 2010 (UTC)

## American Girl Denver -- Place or Store?

Is American Girl Denver really an American Girl Place or more Boutique and Bistro? I'm inclined to think Denver is a Boutique and Bistro, not an AG Place. Denver doesn't have a photo studio, private dining, party room, or special/group packages -- features the Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles stores have. The site doesn't list Denver as "American Girl Place Denver", just "American Girl Denver" (not unlike "American Girl Place Chicago", "New York", "Los Angeles").

Additionally, looking at Mattel's career page for Denver, it's listed as an American Girl Store, the same classification for Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, and Minneapolis. --AkaiKaze 07:26, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Most likely. I think AG is pulling away from the Store concept and aiming for boutiques more. --Nethilia 07:29, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
If that's the case, maybe the article should be edited to accurately reflect AG Denver's status as a Boutique, not a Place. Should the front page be edited as well? Denver is still listed there as an AG Place. --AkaiKaze 07:32, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
I've fixed the article--can you do the front page? --Nethilia 07:37, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
It's now fixed. --AkaiKaze 07:41, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

## Duplicate articles

There seems to be duplicate articles for one of the JLY outfits: the Birthday Girl Dress and the Birthday Girl Outfit. Should one of the names be redirected to an article, or a disambig page created? --AkaiKaze 22:28, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Redirect the outfit one. It's just a duplicate. --Nethilia 08:25, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
Redirect is now in effect. --AkaiKaze 19:00, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

## Thank you

Thank you! Moomin4 04:51, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

## New dolls and renames

Looking at the newly renamed My American Girl (previously Just Like You), it seems there are new dolls. However, I'm not particularly good at telling if there are actually new dolls or just previous dolls photographed differently.

Also, since Just Like You is now My American Girl, should "American Girl of Today and Just Like You" remain in the "List of..." article listings? It seems rather unwieldy to call it "List of American Girl of Today, Just Like You, and My American Girl Outfits/Accessories/Furniture". --AkaiKaze 18:23, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think there are any new girls. As for the article names, I think we've reached the point of making redirect for the old names to the new. Nethilia 04:23, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
And yes, this means redirecting the doll pages too. Nethilia 04:29, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

Hi Nethilia. The Sponsored Links section is a new and experimental part of the Wikia adverts and Martine is a Wikia helper working on testing it out. One of the things she is doing is trying different wording, to see if that makes the section more likely to be used. This isn't going to be part of the MediaWiki messaging system in the future (just as other adverts aren't) but it's still in the testing stage right now. I've put Martine's test back, and removed the block. Sorry for the confusion! -- sannse (help forum | blog) 16:36, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I'm sorry! I had no idea. I'm so very sorry for that, it just looked like spam. My most sincere apologies. --Nethilia 17:41, July 17, 2010 (UTC)

## Mainpage/skin update

Hello there- I work for Wikia Inc., and I've been asked to update the look of this wiki. You have an amazing community here, and 1500+ articles, which is impressive to say the least! :) Let me know if you have any comments or concerns about the new look, hopefully it will be a refreshing change from the preset skin that was up before.

Cheers!
http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o297/SCOTIMUS76/VA3.png 11:45, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

I do like the color scheme! Thank you! It does seem a bit narrow, though. Can that be tweaked a little? --Nethilia 04:17, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

I second the decision to widen the layout a bit -- it's messing up the doll chart in the My American Girl page as well as all the My AG doll pages. --AkaiKaze 00:07, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

## Help!!!

I keep leaving edits and AkaiKaze keeps deleting them, and all of the edits I make are all true! Please help me!I don't feel welcomed on here. --This unsigned comment was made by IP Address 173.60.78.170 on 21:55, 10 October 2010.

First of all, sign my page. Second of all, if your edits keep getting deleted, go see why they are being deleted. Don't go running to one admin tattling on another. This isn't second grade. Nethilia 06:05, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

## I KNOW

Ok,first of all AkaiKaze doesn't tell me why she deleted them. She just DELETES!!!!!And I know this isn't second grade!!!!!!--This unsigned comment was made by IP Address 74.100.74.56 on 13:31, 11 October 2010.

You should'nt make strict rules for your wiki "clique".

## Why???

Why did you delete my edit on Molly McIntire?74.100.73.23 04:03, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

I typed it out on the other admin's Talk Page. Go read it. --Nethilia 04:05, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Ok....sorry about that!Ok I went to read it and I saw it,did you also type it about Chrissa and Samantha cause you deleted those too.74.100.73.23 04:11, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

## Nooooo!!!!!

YOU DELETED EVERYTHING THAT I EDITED!!!!!!74.100.73.23 04:13, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

This was unnecessary and immature. Take two weeks to cool your nerves. --Nethilia 05:25, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

## Thats not necessary

Thats not necessary,I don't need to take 2 weeks OFF!!!!!Can you just please stop getting mad at me for nothing. Thank you!74.111.206.155 23:24, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Stop acting like a child, and Nethilia and I will stop treating you like a child. Learn to read the rules, and learn to read what's acceptable and unacceptable for this wiki. Until then, take a three-month timeout. --AkaiKaze 01:32, October 14, 2010 (UTC)

## Thank You very much!

Thank You very much guys for unblocking me,although I don't see why I was blocked! But anyways to stay out of trouble(like getting blocked)I might just go find another wiki to edit. And I hope that their not so strict.I apologize for all the inconvenience I have brought to this wiki.I left a sorry note on AkaiKaze' talk page a couple days ago before I got blocked and I guess no one saw it.Anyways if you guys don't mind I'm gonna say something...ok,I just wanted to let you guys know that if you guys keep being so strict to people pretty soon no ones gonna wanna come on here anymore, and I'm not trying to sound like your momma or something I'm just trying to keep you guys away from that.Once again I am sorry for my additude lately, and Thank You for unblocking!71.254.157.27 17:59, October 14, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah they are pretty strict about editing! Good thing I never edit on here, otherwise I would be getting yelled at. --This unsigned comment was made by IP Address 75.69.5.232 at 09:04, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

I fail to see what this has to do with anything. --Nethilia 11:08, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

## Yup!!

Yeah,I know....way too strict.Hey Nethilia,it has everything to do about it.I'm saying thank you for unblocking me.Anyways where are the rules for this wiki,I can't find it!71.165.78.70 17:29, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

The link to the rules can be found on the front page of this wiki. Or here. I strongly suggest you read that before you start making any edits to any existing pages, and if you feel you cannot abide by the rules for whatever reasons, then perhaps editing for this wiki is not meant for you. --AkaiKaze 17:57, October 17, 2010 (UTC)
My page is not for your conversations or your useless thank yous. I don't care. Since you seem to not understand much about rules or how to edit on a wiki, take time to read the rules or consider yourself removed. You haven't been unblocked, by and by. You have a rotating IP address. --Nethilia 20:38, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

You know, all I said was "Thank You," and here you are getting mad at me and then ending up blocking me!I'm not getting mad or anything,I'm just letting YOU know why you blocked me.You can get mad at me and block me,but I don't really care.I read the rules and I seem to understand it.Some aren't very needed in the rules.I just wanted to let you know.I beg you not to block me because I won't be editing on here for a while.Thank you and this time I hope that you don't block me just for saying "Thank you!"74.100.160.116 02:34, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

## Oasis skin redesign

I know this has nothing to do with AG, but it does concern the wiki.

Wikia has plans to remove the Monaco skin and replace it with a new skin named Oasis by November 3 -- as far as I'm aware Monobook will still be available. I'm not sure if you've seen the new look when it debuted on October 6 (you may have to log out to see the Oasis look), but I reverted it back to Monaco as soon as I saw it. General consensus on Wikia's general forum and blogs regarding Oasis has been less than enthusiastic, to put things mildly.

I'd play with the Oasis look and see how to best adjust it for this wiki, but I thought you should be the one to set the standards. Wikia's put up a transition guide, but it has not been updated since September 27. --AkaiKaze 18:27, October 30, 2010 (UTC)

I'll play with it, and see what can be done. I didn't design the current layout, but I'm sure we can work in the new layout for the most part. Nethilia 21:37, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

## Victorian?

You deleted a point I made about Samantha Parkington's time and how her books were talking about Victorian America rather than the Victorian Era. Why did you do this?

P.S. Wiki Victorian America. It was an actual time. --This unsigned comment was made by IP Address 24.70.171.4 on 21:00, November 6, 2010

The Victorian era was an actual time, yes. It was also named after Queen Victoria, who died in 1901. Sam's books start in 1904. She's Edwardian.

~Sorry to disturb you. I'm new, so I'm not quite sure how things work. Nethalia (Hi by the way :D) Victorian America was more of an off-shoot to the real Victorian Era. America wasn't ruled by Queen Victoria because they had a president. I don't want to sound rude, but I do agree with this person when I say Google up Victorian America. You'll see for youself that it's different in a way. Again I'm SO sorry if I'm being rude D: If you must punish me, I understand-- Jenny_006

The attitudes demonstrated by Samantha's books and the turn of the Century in the US are clearly closer to Edwardian with notions of progress and moving class lines. While not directly ruled by a queen (Really, have you checked my age? Like I don't know the US was run by a president?) to call the era Victorian is more wrong than calling it Edwardian. I've not only Googled it, I've studied it in college. --Nethilia 05:50, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

~Still, technically in America she was considered a Victorian. Edwardians were more British than Americans, and I doubt AG is in-accurate when it comes to Samantha. This was probably (can be wrong) the last time England has influenced America since the Colonial days. But potato tomato-- Jenny_006

~ One last thing: Also consider Samantha's time. Her time begins at 1904, yet Victorian America ended in 1910. This can be why she's technically some kind of Victorian. The attitudes can be Edwardian, but the real time in America there was Victorian, which was why Samantha was created with a Victorian style. Just another thing--- Jenny_006

AG has been wrong on a number of things. --Nethilia 08:25, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

~ Yes they are. But I'm afraid you're quite wrong here. Just because England had a Victorian Era doesn't mean the whole WORLD was Victorian as well. I found this on wiki:

"While the Victorian Era is a name for the period from 1837 to 1901 in the United Kingdom, American Victorianism was an offshoot of this period and lifestyle that occurred in the United States, chiefly in heavily populated regions such as New England and the Deep South from roughly 1875 to 1910 after the Civil War. The name was derived from the reign of Queen Victoria, which reflected the heavy British cultural influence on the nation during the time. As American business people of the Second Industrial Revolution created sprawling industrial towns and cities in the Northeast, the growing upper class of the Gilded Age mimicked the high society of their former mother country in dress, morality, and mannerisms. The period included various activities—the Second Industrial Revolution, the Women's suffrage movement, and Republican political domination"

As you can see/read, these two era are similar but were not the SAME THING. I'm not in college yet, but even I know the difference with these two Victorian times.~~Jenny_006

P.S. Sorry if I enraged you in anyway.

I am not sure what Nethilia's views on Wikipedia are, but my view is that one should not cite Wikipedia in one's research because Wikipedia itself can be inaccurate as well. It is a wiki, which means people can come in and edit/vandalize as they please, and wikis are only as good as the people who work on them. I believe if a non-Wikipedia link can be used as a reference, it should be used in lieu of links to Wikipedia - Wikipedia links in the AG wiki's articles are meant to be general sources to people who may be unfamiliar either with terminology or items used in the stories and among AG's products.
As to whether or not Samantha's time period is Victorian/Edwardian, bear in mind there has always been an overlap between eras. However, as pointed out, the general attitudes, fashions, and social issues of the 1900s points Samantha's time more as Edwardian than Victorian. It can only be presumed that AG refers to Samantha's time period as Victorian for marketing purposes rather than historical accuracy. --AkaiKaze 07:15, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
~This has GOT to stop 0_o Yes I'm not a member, but even I know how wrong ' you guys are. For one thing, this is American Girl. American. This is about AMERICAN history, so why bring England in this? Edwardians have no connection with Victorian America. Edwardians were subjects of King Edward. So HOW ON EARTH does America get into this? WHY are Americans Edwardian? They're not. Victorian America, as quoted by the other girl, was a knock-off of England's Victoria and Edwardian era. Yes they overlap, but they are in different countries. As for "the turn of the century", that was just the 1890s and 1900s. The overall time was VICTORIAN AMERICA.
I don't care how much you "studied" this; if you acutally think Americans were ever Edwardians, then you were NOT paying attention! Whoever the other girl knows what she's talking about. My advice: Go Goggle this timew period yourself, or get a book, and then TELL ME what it says. AG knows what they're talking about when it comes to history. I would also like to know how AMERICANS suddenly became EDWARDIANS. (Your over-lapping history excuse doesn't work) Tell me soem proof, and then we'll talk.142.32.208.228 21:31, November 22, 2010 (UTC)A history buff/child of a history teacher.

I'd like to cut in on this history debate. Pleasant Rowland at a fan signing explained that the era is not Victorian, however, Samantha lived a Victorian life because she lived an old-fashioned life living with her Grandmary. Styles just don't come and go that easily. Even though the Victorian Age technically ended in 1901, that doesn't mean it just came and POP! no one has any results of it anymore. It takes time for styles to change, especially in homes run by older people, and in the country, which was where Samantha lived (as there were no such things as suburbs until the 1940s) and so styles traveled much slower to the country than in the city. It was just three years prior to the book time that the Victorian Age ended, so I doubt Grandmary would've changed her ways in those three years or anyone else in the country. In the city, yes, in the country, not as fast. She is considered a Victorian beauty because she was raised to be that way. But the Edwardian IDEAS were BEGINNING to take over, thus showing in Cornelia's newer attitude. It's the conflict of the times shifting from one style of progress to another. America was in awe of England and it's styles so America imitated. Simply put they were styles that traveled to America, and eventually spread through America, thanks to better steam ship travel. It's not that Americans are Edwardians, it's the era because they imitated the styles of English people living under the Victorians, and later imitating the ideas of the Edwardians, but very briefly. It's a play on the name. I am a history teacher, and history is a controversial subject. It's best to get your information from the author and why she chose to make the story the way she did rather than rabble through many books who all contradict each other anyway. We never imitated an Edwardian era, we only imitated the Victorian Era. When the Edwardians came in the power, the Victorian Era as a style was thriving but withering. Edwardian didn't exist in America. We simply adopted the ideas, not caring who was in power in England --Soratothamax 21:26, January 12, 2011 (UTC)Soratothamax

## Hello again!

## Heads up: Confirmation of a New Historical on the way

On the official American Girl cruise website, look to the right. Press "the American Girl cruise events". There is an event called "New Historical Character Event". Just a heads-up and confirmation that it's not just a rumor anymore that there will be a new historical character. She will more than likely have a six-book series as they mention it in the events. She seems to be due out at least by November, if not much sooner.

Also, there is a revamp in American Girl mini dolls in American Girl catalog. Samantha and Felicity have already been confirmed as being released in their holiday outfits. Samantha in January and Felicity in February. It was in the latest catalog.

--Soratothamax 04:58, January 2, 2011 (UTC)Soratothamax

Knew the second--it is limited for the year. As for the first, until this is confirmed in a press release by AG, there's nothing doing about it, really. --Nethilia 05:55, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

## Emails

How do you stop getting these emails and messages. Things keep popping up saying "You have a new message on American Girl Wikia". I even get emails. I don't want them because I didn't write the things, my sister keeps getting on my account. It won't let me take things off the list of contributions. Cedricdoodlehopper 19:41, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

## Defaultsort template?

Do you think the book articles could benefit from a DEFAULTSORT template? The DEFAULTSORT template would only affect book articles that start with "A", "An", "The", and the like with proper categorizing - as an example, if the DEFAULTSORT template was applied to The Puzzle of the Paper Daughter, that book article would appear under P in the Category:Books listing, rather than T.

This would be a wiki-wide effect - taking the The Puzzle of the Paper Daughter example again, if I looked in the Julie Albright category, the book would still be listed under P, rather than T. I think it could greatly organize all the book articles.

Here's a example source code for the DEFAULTSORT template as seen in the DC wiki: http://dc.wikia.com/index.php?title=Template:DEFAULTSORT&action=edit but a more simpler form of the template could be used in the book articles, like

(blockquoted for better clarification)

The template would go to the bottom of the article and otherwise will not show in the article proper itself. --AkaiKaze 01:52, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

That would be excellent! Please implement it when you have the time. I'm the worst coder ever. --Nethilia 08:30, February 4, 2011 (UTC)
And it'll be best for people and/or characters, too. Like, for instance, the Merriman family members would be listed under M instead of using their first names as a basis. Blakegripling ph 02:29, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

## Polly Merriman's Birthday

It does not mention in Felicity's New Sister what day Polly is born but in Polly's bio (under the illustrations at the front of the main books) It says she is born in December of 1775.

## Marie Grace and Cecile

Here are photos of Marie Grace and Cecile:

Now that we know who they are, may I make the "Meet Cecile" and 'Meet Marie Grace" pages? (And perhaps their main pages)

Jenny 006 19:57, May 8, 2011 (UTC)Jenny_006

Until we know what their last names are (at minimum, Nethilia may disagree with me on this), I believe it's policy that no pages for the new Historicals are to be created. Rebecca's pages and articles were not created until her official release in May 2009. --AkaiKaze 20:02, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
Ahhhh, I see. Well apparently, they're full names are "Cecile Rey" and "Marie-Grace Gardner." (Just found them) Jenny 006 21:12, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
There is not information for a full article. I will write data about this on the main page, but until there are clearer pictures and officially released images from American Girl--a press release--do not create an article regarding them. Thanks. --Nethilia 01:20, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

## Recent doll retirements

It's come to my attention that two dolls have recently been retired (Just Like You 4 and the blonde-haired, grey-eyed Bitty Baby). Considering JLY 4 had a unique mold and now that it's retired, should something be mentioned in either the Face Mold or Asian Mold articles?

Additionally, I've been thinking of converting the Options Available gallery into a visual gallery akin to the one for the My AG dolls, especially since there are now altogether 8 Bitty Babies (3 new dolls, 4 current dolls, and 1 retired doll).

ETA: Just to give an idea, I've made a mockup of a Bitty Baby visual gallery in the sandbox to show the addition of the new Bitty Babies. --AkaiKaze 08:47, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

I would certainly mention it on the face mold article, and the layout for the Bitties sounds wonderful. Could this also be done for the Twins? --Nethilia 15:08, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

## HELP

AkailKaze keeps blocking me and deleting my edits she made me cry cause i can't get on the site anymore!!! :P NOTE I JUST LOOKED AT THE RULES TODAY I DID NOT KNOW WHERE THEY WERE ON THE SITE!! The rules can be found on the front page. In case you're too lazy, you can read it here: American Girl Dolls Wiki:AG Wiki Rules. This wiki is intended to be a serious project, and if you can't be a big girl (read the rules, it's the third one down) and follow the rules, then maybe this site isn't for you. --AkaiKaze 21:25, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

## New Historical Character banner?

I've been thinking about updating the banner on the Historical Characters article, and this is what I've come up with:

I did not upload the proposed updated banner to the wiki as I think you should be the one to decide on this. If you feel there could be improvements to it I could send the Photoshop file(s) to your email account if you'd like. --AkaiKaze 21:33, October 1, 2011 (UTC)

Look great! About the only thing I'd add is to flip Marie to face the other way, if she's on her own layer, so they all face the same way. --Nethilia 03:22, October 2, 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately I could not separate and edit the original image of Cecile and Marie-Grace - parts of their portraits would overlap one another (ie. MG's arm over Cecile's dress, or Cecile's arm over MG's dress).
I did find better images of the two girls sans hats and did some more editing, with the following result:
Image link as ginormous image is still ginormous at 1462x275 px
If it's to your liking it can be immediately uploaded since I saved it in the same format as the current banner (.jpg). --AkaiKaze 05:57, October 2, 2011 (UTC)
Looks marvelous! Upload away! --Nethilia 04:16, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

## Year of Release template proposal

Given that AG's released 25 years' worth of items, I thought it'd only be feasible if there was a template/table that provides an easy navigation aid in the Category:Items Released in XXXX category pages.

I've made two different possible templates in the sandbox with some placeholder text to give an idea of how they might look in said category pages. --AkaiKaze 01:01, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

--Looks good! I like the longer version format one better. --Nethilia 08:54, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

## Deletion request.

I dunno, but can you delete this image for me? I've just uploaded a better, SVG version of the placeholder images, and it won't make much sense if we still keep this. Blakegripling ph 04:01, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

Done and done. --Nethilia 06:36, December 26, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm also actually planning for a main page navigation image similar to the Mafia and GTA wikis, but I'm not too sure about it.

## Melody Moore

Sooooo... you deleted my Melody Moore page, I know it didn't have much info, but if I collected enough, and it was all true, could I. I know she is only mentioned in Molly and the Movie Star, but this wiki has pages on CLOTHING! Clothing for JLU dolls!!! This is just a question, but: Why can't there be a page on a minor character, there is hardly any info on her at Molly's minor characters page.(well, piece of a page). RoseDew&Blueberry (talk) 01:28, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

Not only was the article poorly written, but it was poorly written about a character who I am sure you cannot make a full article about that qualifies as a full. Look at all the characters who get a separate page, then think about what you wrote. Do you honestly think what you wrote was of proper quality? She is a minor character, and thus she goes on the Minor Characters page.
Outfits get their own pages as they are a major part of the collecting aspect and can be given the major specific detail that is expected in this project as a database for all aspects. If an article isn't enough to stand out--as the Melody Moore page was not--it can and will be deleted. Furthermore, it was not properly written. Be a Big Girl. Nethilia (talk) 08:28, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

The point of a wiki is to edit information in. Nethilia (talk) 05:38, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
Soooo.. Is that a yes?

## Historical Character Mysteries

I noticed that on Historical Character Mysteries you have links to the pages for all the authors except Barbara Steiner, which doesn't look right in red letters when all the others have green. Could you fix this? I would but I don't want to do anything you call 'unnecessary.' Is it because she only wrote one book for AG? All the others have done more for AG, even if not for the Historical Character Mysteries. RoseDew&Blueberry (talk) 04:13, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

## Home

On the Home Page; the McKenna banner, when you roll over it, says: McKenna, Girl of the Year 2011

I know it is a very small mistake, but could you fix it? I realize that only Admins are allowed to edit the Home Page, so will it be changed to 2012?

Thanks, 69.231.126.86 02:56, October 1, 2012 (UTC)

Fixing. Nethilia (talk) 00:33, October 2, 2012 (UTC)

## Cookbook

There are pages for Cooking Studios, not Cookbooks. Will there be those, too? I am asking because if it is not necessary I don't want to be blocked. And 2 unnecessary pages get you blocked, right?

The cookbooks have been started, I believe. And yes, two unneeded pages get you blocked, so your best bet is to see how other pages are done and not just flop about. Nethilia (talk) 00:33, October 2, 2012 (UTC)

## Symbol

Each Historical Character has a symbol, but you don't have them on your wiki. Could I upload the symbols? My avatar right now is Kit's symbol. I won't until I get a answer from you, but if it's a no I won't. I'm not sure whether you want them or not, but could I add them to the Main Series page?

ViolAna (talk) 02:30, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

Upload them and then tell me they are uploaded. If they're sufficient, they can then be added to the pages. Nethilia (talk) 11:11, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I'll upload them. Which ones should I upload? If they aren't sufficient I don't want to have uploaded all of them. ViolAna (talk) 18:21, October 12, 2012 (UTC) I uploaded Kits. ViolAna (talk) 18:28, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
The image is rather large; it should be cropped so as to have less white space. If you don't have an image editor to allow you to crop (though I know MS paint can crop) then please e-mail me the images and I'll edit them to be smaller and thus take up less data. Nethilia (talk) 02:01, October 13, 2012 (UTC)
I can crop them. How's it now? ViolAna (talk) 03:25, October 13, 2012 (UTC)
Much better. Go ahead and upload them, cropped. Nethilia (talk) 05:54, October 13, 2012 (UTC)
Okay. I'll be working on cropping them. Thanks! ViolAna (talk) 15:30, October 13, 2012 (UTC)
I'll be working on them, but maybe not for a while because when I uploaded Samantha's it looked a little blurry. I'm going to try to change that. ViolAna (talk) 20:12, October 15, 2012 (UTC)
Take your time. Your work is appreciated. Nethilia (talk) 21:31, October 15, 2012 (UTC)
I can try doing scalable vector versions if you guys want to, just as I did with the AG and InnerStar logos. Blakegripling ph (talk) 02:05, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I'm a big fan of american girl even though im from canada. I wanted to ask May i be An admin?

Fairytailfreak19 (talk) 21:07, October 27, 2012 (UTC)

You can't just ask to be, there are actually rules if you cared to look them up. 69.231.133.183 00:20, October 28, 2012 (UTC)

Even I wanted to be an admin. But IDK if Nethilia would mind about myself being one. Blakegripling ph (talk) 00:40, October 28, 2012 (UTC)
Can she make us admins? Or do we have to talk to the main Wikia people? Nipasu (talk) 03:57, October 28, 2012 (UTC)
As for contacting you, yeah, I sent you a reply via mail. Blakegripling ph (talk) 07:02, October 28, 2012 (UTC)
Sorry for bumping off, but did you get my mail? Blakegripling ph (talk) 06:54, October 29, 2012 (UTC)
Yep, and working on a reply. Nethilia (talk) 08:35, October 29, 2012 (UTC)
Danks schoen! Blakegripling ph (talk) 08:39, October 29, 2012 (UTC)

## Common.js

I've just added some code to MediaWiki:Common.js, mostly pertaining to the edit toolbar and other enhancements. Let me know if this breaks some functionality, OK? Blakegripling ph (talk) 08:51, October 29, 2012 (UTC)

## Felicity Merriman edit you just did

does it not then follow that the info that her second meet outfit was originally released on its own as the traveling gown should also be deleted, as this still isn't the doll's page? I edited the first meet outfit just to make the two descriptions match.

Dmpecht (talk) 08:50, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

Because that detail about the Rose Garden Dress is unneeded bulk on the main character page and best left to the article about the doll specifically. The part about the Traveling Gown is because it was released as a Short Story outfit. And the details about the purse are unneeded trivia. Do me a favor, put on your Big Girl Panties and Deal. Nethilia (talk) 08:54, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

## 25th Anniversary Shirts?

While scouring through eBay I managed to find auction pages for a 25th anniversary T-shirt given to employees of American Girl, and a 25th anniversary T-shirt to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Madison Children's Museum Sale.

Since the former item was for employees only and never intended for wide release unlike the American Girl Tenth Anniversary Shirt, and the latter item was to celebrate MCM's own 25th anniversary (the shirt reads "2012 American Girl Benefit Sale", separate from AG's own celebrations in 2011), should either - or both - items be included in the wiki in some form? --AkaiKaze (talk) 23:05, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

I say include them, as they are official. Nethilia (talk) 09:56, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

## Blue Jean Basic photo

Would you like me to retake the picture without the stand? I'm refering to the Blue Jeans Basic photo. Njcjd

Yes. Also, the towel is a touch distracting, and the angle is too low--it felt like I was looking up the doll's nose! I find that having the camera a touch above the doll's face--not too much--makes for a good straight-on picture. Snap multiple pictures, not just one, and find the best. Also, since this is a personal picture, try to upload at about 600 px on the short side. The picture was almost good enough. Think catalogue. Nethilia (talk)

How do you get your dolls to look like they are standing? or are they lying down? I am open to any suggestions. I would like to learn. Njcjd (talk) 02:25, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

They look like they're standing because they are. I don't own an AG doll stand, so I make sure my doll is balanced when they're taking shots. The main thing is to balance their feet--most of the time, I have my dolls stand with their feet slightly apart for stability. I've yet to do a formal "How to take good pics" thing. I may later, but at a personal location. One thing that helps is that I take pics multiple times--since digital cameras have semi-endless "film" it's easy to snap five or six pictures. Nethilia (talk) 03:19, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I redid the Blue Jeans Basics I photo. I hope it meets the standard. I do have other outfits etc. that are on the picture needed page. I could also add those if you want. I didn't delete the comment on the Blue Jean page about a picture being needed in case this picture wasn't good enough. I didn't want to undo something that might need to be redone. Njcjd (talk) 17:58, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

Much improved! Continue to take nice clear pictures just like that. I've removed the picture needed image from the article. Could you please label which doll that is on both the article and image notes (It looks like AG#12), and maybe upload a larger image if you have it? Nethilia (talk) 01:04, April 19, 2013 (UTC)

Yes you're right it is an AG#12. She recently returned from the hospital for eye replacement due to silver eye. I think these eyes are a darker brown than the original. Where should I post the larger file? Just upload it as a photo or replace the one in the article?Njcjd (talk) 01:34, April 19, 2013 (UTC)

If you look at the image, there's a spot where you can upload a new version of the file. It'll overwrite the file. Nethilia (talk) 03:18, April 19, 2013 (UTC)

I added pictures on the Slumber Shirt and Mini Bear outfit page. Please check if they are up to parr. I did look to try to delete the picture needed caption and wasn't sure, so once again I didn't want to mess things up and left it to you to clean it up. Sorry to be so needy. Njcjd (talk) 15:05, April 20, 2013 (UTC)

Looks good. You should be fine. If pictures you upload aren't up to par, I or any other Admins will alert you. Thanks for helping so much! Oh, and PictureNeeded is all that needs to be removed when you put a pic up. Nethilia (talk) 00:47, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

## Defaultsorting

Had a bit of a category sorting spree on character articles just recently, and I was just wondering if we can muscle out some effort in doing the same with the rest of the characters. Blakegripling ph (talk) 01:03, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

Announce it on the main page as a project, that might get people pointed that way. Nethilia (talk) 01:08, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

## Re: Logo

You're welcome! =) Blakegripling ph (talk) 07:04, May 7, 2013 (UTC)

## AutoWikiBrowser

In case you're wondering as to why I ended up flooding the Recent Changes log, I used the AutoWikiBrowser tool for sorting out character pages by surname. The tool allows users to log in to any wiki for automated administration, so I pretty much exploited it to good use. Blakegripling ph (talk) 12:37, May 9, 2013 (UTC)

Nifty! Good work. Oh, and thanks for moving my header off the page for me. Nethilia (talk) 00:58, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
You're welcome. Just wanted to experiment and muck around with some tools, so I did it. Blakegripling ph (talk) 01:19, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

## Quality over Quantity disappearance

What happened to this policy? I realize there's been a lot of wiki maintenance during my forced downtime away from the Internet this past week, but it seems strange that this one policy has disappeared. --AkaiKaze (talk) 00:49, May 11, 2013 (UTC)

Ah, it looks like the site name change had a typo in it. It's been corrected. Still there! Nethilia (talk) 03:07, May 11, 2013 (UTC)

## Cursing

Hey. Please do not use those bad words u used in one post. Also i am a beginner so i have little experience writing articles. Im really sorry if i made u mad. --Unsigned comment by Iluvanimals at 11:30 UTC on 7/31/13.

I am a grown woman in my 30s. "Bad words"? What are you, in elementary school? Sit down, child. I curse. I don't give a damn that I curse. I will curse on talk pages, I might cuss on my own personal blogs. This project is for people who can be mature, and part of maturity is accepting that some people cuss. Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get the hell over yourself. Nethilia (talk) 01:43, August 1, 2013 (UTC)

## Retired Photos

Dear Nethilia,

If you go to the link below, you will find photos of retired american girl dolls, like JLY 9, JLY 10, and JLY 20. Just in case you need photos.

Abby

http://www.agplaythings.com/MegsGuideAGoT/GT-ID/JLY_ID.html --Unsigned comment by AGlover12 at 17:19 7/31/13

Those are personal to their site and it would be inappropriate to use their images; furthermore, they are all too small and photoshopped images. Nethilia (talk) 01:43, August 1, 2013 (UTC)

## Deletions

Neth u have deleted almost all my edits please stop I feel bullied --Unsigned comment by Iluvanimals at 14:28 2013 August 19

You need to be an adult. If you can't contribute without mewling about people being mean, then this project is not for you. Reverting non useful edits is not bullying anymore than correcting a poorly written paper. Either behave like an adult or stop contributing. We aren't here to hold your hands. Nethilia (talk) 12:09, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

## Inappropriate articles

Hi, just thought I'd alert you to the fact that this user has been adding articles that are absolutely terribly written and on subjects that do not belong on this wiki. Thanks! Siriusisdead (talk) 00:49, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

I'm taking care of them now, thanks for the tip. Blakegripling ph (talk) 01:11, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

## Isabelle Page

When will it be appropriate to create a page for GOTY 2014 Isabelle Palmer?

Nipasu (talk) 07:27, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

Until there is a confirmed surname, and outside of fan blogs, I'm not fully convinced Palmer is - or will be - Isabelle's surname.
Just to give an example as to why I would rather wait for a confirmed surname, I do recall there were rumors and speculation McKenna's last name was going to be Crowley until it was later revealed to be Brooks. --AkaiKaze (talk) 23:04, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
What AkaiKaze said. There's generally a press release by AG before the first, and that should reveal her full name. Short of a book screenshot/book update on Amazon, we'd do well to wait for that. Nethilia (talk) 23:39, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

^ This contest page is using the name 'Isabelle Palmer' to advertise AG's contest. Nipasu (talk) 06:18, December 16, 2013 (UTC)

We should still wait for an official press release and picture, I think. Nethilia (talk) 03:57, December 17, 2013 (UTC)
A student whom I frequently tutor brought the most recent issue of the American Girl magazine with her at my house earlier today, and it clearly states Isabelle's full name as Isabelle Palmer inside the magazine. I believe that's a good enough confirmation to warrant page creations for Isabelle, even if we don't have any pictures at the moment. --AkaiKaze (talk) 21:05, December 28, 2013 (UTC)
So, does that mean we can vouch on the Palmer surname, then? Blakegripling ph (talk) 02:33, December 29, 2013 (UTC)
Magazine is official--I also saw catalog shots and the official image on dolldiaries here: http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/isabelle-AG-GOTY-2014.jpg . Toss it up. Nethilia (talk) 03:39, December 29, 2013 (UTC)
A teaser video on AG's website also mentions Isabelle's surname, so yeah, it's official. The clip also appears to reveal the full name of the film, too. Blakegripling ph (talk) 08:26, December 31, 2013 (UTC)

## Galleries

I dunno, but I just want to let you know that there's an option for setting a gallery's position. Was wondering if it's OK with you if the galleries for let's say the old Samantha illustrations would be formatted like this using the <gallery position="center"> syntax:

Blakegripling ph (talk) 01:48, April 15, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, but the part I hate about Galleries is the dinky "Add a picture" blurb at the end that gets stuck on. It ruins the look for me. Nethilia (talk) 04:45, April 15, 2014 (UTC)
Noted. Seems like it has something to do with the Wikia theme, as the said blurb doesn't show up when I use Monobook. Blakegripling ph (talk) 04:54, April 15, 2014 (UTC)
Oh, and just did a search on how to remove the annoying button. Turns out that there's an hideaddbutton=true option which can be used on a per-gallery basis, but since you hate the said button with a passion, I added a CSS hack as suggested here. Blakegripling ph (talk) 05:06, April 15, 2014 (UTC)
Edit it out and it can work. Nethilia (talk) 05:47, April 15, 2014 (UTC)
Yep, just did it. And I'm more used to Monobook/Vector as with vanilla/Wikipedia-style Mediawiki installations as Wikia's platform seems a little too wonky for me. Blakegripling ph (talk) 05:56, April 15, 2014 (UTC)

## Historical Character Extras

Will it okay if I label these items has Historical Extras for Marie-Grace and Cecile?:

Lacy Parasol Nipasu (talk) 22:01, April 18, 2014 (UTC)

As they are, that's fine. Nethilia (talk) 07:35, April 19, 2014 (UTC)

## AG boards

Just thought of adding a link to my board on the policy page, although I'd like to inform you about it as I don't want to end up like spamming it for promotional purposes or something, and since AGPT and your board's not the only AG-related forums on the web. Blakegripling ph (talk) 07:55, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

It's fine, though we likely shouldn't add more than that. I updated it to emphasize the whole "The Wiki is not a Fan Forum" aspect. Nethilia (talk) 00:53, April 30, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, but of course since you're the admin and all, and I didn't want to end up over-saturating the page, or the site itself for that matter, with links to fansites. Blakegripling ph (talk) 07:25, April 30, 2014 (UTC)

## Categorizing eBooks

I think eBooks should be given their own distinct category - if only to let the end user know a particular story isn't available in a physical format - but the way Wikia handles the categorization of technological terminology as it relates to e- or i-Anything leaves much to be desired, like .

I'm thinking of either going with or . Which is more preferable for the wiki? --AkaiKaze (talk) 22:22, June 28, 2014 (UTC)

I think "Electronic Books" is the neater way. Nethilia (talk) 22:38, June 28, 2014 (UTC)

## Parent Page

Hi there! My name is Ariana- I'm on the Community team over here at Wikia. I am reaching out to see if you and the other admins are OK with us creating a parent page for your wiki. A parent page is a go-to page for parents and adults to check out the age range for each wiki. Here is an example!

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Also, if you and the other admins want to help us fill it out- that would be great! Thanks so much, Asnow89 @ (profile)•(talk) 21:00, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

That would be fine! Is there any details in particular you'd like to know for the page? Nethilia (talk) 22:38, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

Hi there! Sorry for the late response- I didn't see your message earlier! I set up the parent page template here if you want to add any relevant information about your wiki! Let me know if you need any help filling it out. Thank you so much for your help! Best, Asnow89 @ (profile)•(talk)

Thanks so much! I've gone ahead and edited it to get some information in. Nethilia (talk) 23:50, July 31, 2014 (UTC)

## Visual Chart of Historical Dolls?

I think that a Visual Chart of Historical Dolls similar to the Visual Chart of MyAG dolls would be a great help to newbies and those looking for help IDing their dolls, but I could see it potentially being bloat. Would you be open to such a chart being added or would you rather I not attempt it? Thanks. Honilee (talk) 21:41, July 26, 2014 (UTC)

Unlike the Historicals the MyAG dolls do not come with names or many distinctions. It'd probably be bloat, but if other Admins have thoughts I'd like to hear them. Nethilia (talk) 12:24, July 28, 2014 (UTC)

Just heard from a friend of mine at the Hitler Parody Wiki that Wikia now supports Lua scripts. I'm not sure how would this be of any benefit, but I think you might find it interesting, or we might make at least some use of it i.e. on the JLY charts and stuff like that. Blakegripling ph (talk) 01:12, August 4, 2014 (UTC)

Supports what now, and they do what? My knowledge of code runs very low. Nethilia (talk) 22:51, August 4, 2014 (UTC)
Advanced stuff, could be along the line of interactive menus, timers, etc. Blakegripling ph (talk) 00:55, August 5, 2014 (UTC)
If you can find places to use it, play around and figure it out. I trust ya. Nethilia (talk) 05:18, August 5, 2014 (UTC)
I'll see what I can do. :) Blakegripling ph (talk) 14:30, August 5, 2014 (UTC)
If you want to, you can file for an admin request at Wikia central, and we'll see what we can do from there. Blakegripling ph (talk) 00:55, August 7, 2014 (UTC)
I've put it forth, let's see what we get. Nethilia (talk) 17:20, August 7, 2014 (UTC)
All right, it's been enabled. Figure out our templates, you awesome admin you. Nethilia (talk) 00:35, August 8, 2014 (UTC)

## Duplicate pages

there is two pages about Isabelle's collection. one titled Isabelle's collection and the other is titled Isabelle Palmer's collection. both have the same information on it. --Tblevins41 (talk) 23:21, August 18, 2014 (UTC)

Handled. Nethilia (talk) 00:09, August 19, 2014 (UTC)

## Beforever Items

Should the new Beforever outfits and accessories be listed as 'Extras' or should they be incorporated in the various themed collections of the Historicals?

Nipasu (talk) 20:43, August 27, 2014 (UTC)

Thinking own category, listed as "BeForever Outfits" and "BeForever Accessories." I'll do an example on Addy's collection page. Nethilia (talk) 22:33, August 27, 2014 (UTC)

Frankly, I'm not fully convinced that GOTY 2015's full name is Grace Thomas. Most of what I could find via my Google-fu skills have mostly been found in blogs and social media. The only result that I could find was from Trademarkia.

While Grace's book covers have been revealed on Amazon, with no images showing the back of her books or some official source/press release for her full name, I'm not exactly comfortable with making the rest of Grace's articles on the wiki. What do you think? --AkaiKaze (talk) 02:05, December 27, 2014 (UTC)

While my sources say her name is Grace Thomas and have shown her initial items, it won't kill us to wait a few days for a press lease or direct confirmation. Nethilia (talk) 06:42, December 27, 2014 (UTC)
Saw a photo of what appears to be a back cover from her book at AGPT. Sure enough, things can be shooped, but it appears legit. Blakegripling ph (talk) 15:03, December 28, 2014 (UTC)
Earlier today I went to a local bookstore not far from where I live and found one of Grace's books out in the open. It's confirmed. --AkaiKaze (talk) 01:00, December 29, 2014 (UTC)

## Catalog image on the Ear Piercing page?

I did a bit of digging around on AmericanGirl.com and managed to find what looks like a catalog image of JLY 51 wearing the Silver Star Earrings. (Here is the image in question)

Should it replace the one that's currently on the Ear Piercing page as a way to demonstrate how earrings appear on dolls, like how the Bright Highlights Set has JLY 27 modeling the Pink Highlight on that article? --AkaiKaze (talk) 01:57, February 3, 2015 (UTC)

Put it at the top, and I'll move the standard post earrings down to self piercing. Nethilia (talk) 02:01, February 3, 2015 (UTC)

## Expanding on Limited/Special Edition Historical/BeForever sets

Given some of the outfits/sets for the Historicals/BeForever line the past few years, maybe it's time that the Limited Edition Historical Outfits needs to be revisited, and perhaps, expanded upon. A possible starting point would be some of the items from Marie-Grace and Cécile's collections, like their summer dresses and the Courtyard Furniture since they were explicitly marketed as being available for a limited time. Thoughts? --AkaiKaze (talk) 01:04, February 13, 2015 (UTC)

I didn't even think about that! Yes, that's something that should be expanded on since it's no longer a one off for limited Historical items. I can get on that in a bit, and compare the PC LE sets to the current ones. They have a lot of the same components in the new ones with adding extras. Nethilia (talk) 01:12, February 13, 2015 (UTC)
There, I think I got all the new stuff and older new stuff in the category and revamped the page. Nethilia (talk) 03:23, February 13, 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, it was starting to bug me how so many limited/special edition outfit articles had what I felt was an unneeded Trivia section. It just seemed a lot easier to update the limited edition article and list what outfits/sets were specified by AG to be limited/special sets. --AkaiKaze (talk) 04:23, February 13, 2015 (UTC)
Excellent on you pointing it out! That was one of the older pages that needed revamp; there's quite a few that haven't been touched in a while simply cause they're so old. Nethilia (talk) 05:47, February 13, 2015 (UTC)

Hi Nethilia!

My name is Ariana- I'm on the Community team over here at Wikia and I'm also a big American Girl Doll fan :) We'd love to do something fun with your wiki! Maybe a Closet Confidential contest, where users can dress up an American Girl doll online and submit their entries.

Let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas!

Thanks so much, Asnow89 @ (profile)•(talk) 22:53, March 16, 2015 (UTC)

That sounds like a great idea! Is there anything special I need to know to do this? It looks like the sets are done from characters when it comes to fan wikis--so the best bet for American Girl would be the BeForever characters, since they're active and relevant. If I would need to make rules or limits, that would help too. Keep me informed! Nethilia (talk) 00:37, March 17, 2015 (UTC)

## Block

why did you block my brothers account molly mcintire123456 he didn't do nothing wrong accept change metal bobby pins to metal hair pins (This unsigned comment was made by Rebecca rubin1914 on 10:07, 2015 May 14 UTC)

The talk pages say outright that we're leaving the phrase as bobby pins, not hair pins, and that swapping it back will get a block. We are leaving the words as bobby pins. Your brother violated this and is now on block. Nethilia (talk) 21:15, May 14, 2015 (UTC)

Nethilia, a user named Samuge vandalized the Grace Thomas page.

can I be a admin --Ginnyharry4ever (talk) 16:35, December 6, 2015 (UTC)

I'm actually not going to yell at you for asking a rather ignorant question like I should, or curse you out for your question and instead semi-politely inform you that no, you cannot be an admin. Have you even contributed to a quality that would offer you admin rights? Have you shown adult skills? Are you even knowledgeable of what an admin is? Or did you just think that it's some sort of super editor? You have not shown any sort of initiative or additions to the wiki project that would give you any admin qualities. So no. And don't ask me again or I won't play nice. Nethilia (talk) 17:00, December 6, 2015 (UTC)

## Caroline Sold Out

Dear Nethilia,

Yours Truly,

Joanne

Please sign all comments using ~~~~ to insert your signature. And her being sold out on the website? Yes, that's true. So give us time to edit pages, if you have not done it yourself. She has been retired. We know. Nethilia (talk) 00:53, December 21, 2015 (UTC)

## Previewing Edits

I am new to editing this wiki. If I want you to see a description before I post it, what's the best way? I made a Google Doc for descriptions for this wiki and shared it with you, but you said that if the subject isn't "American Girl Dolls Wikia" it gets lost in your inbox. I can't change what Google Doc sharing says for a subject, so how can I get descriptions to you for previewing before I post? Veralidaine (talk) 21:32, January 28, 2016 (UTC)Veralidaine

Your best bet would actually be to try things in the sandbox (here: Sandbox) so that you can test with the coding and formatting. Nethilia (talk) 23:25, January 28, 2016 (UTC)

## Retirements

Hey Nethilia!

These items are retired:

Please update their respective article pages.

All the best,

Joanne

Joanne Maniago (talk) 20:05, January 30, 2016 (UTC)

Please in the future, if you know something is retired, take the time to update the page yourself instead of leaving me messages as such. I am not the only person capable of updating article pages. Nethilia (talk) 22:17, January 30, 2016 (UTC)

Hey Nethilia,

Did Caroline have a school collection before archival?

## Rayray Edits

why do you keep changing everything I edit (This unsigned comment was made by Rayray1234 on 07:25, 2016 February 21)

From the Rules with emphasis:
The essence of a Wiki is that stuff will get edited. This means that if you write a whole article on Marisol and someone comes and changes some things in it or removes lines that don't fit, don't get mad and don't cry about it. This is a Wiki, which means everyone should feel free to contribute without thinking they will upset someone--and that edits are going to get taken down if they're poorly done.
Your edits have been immature, childish, grammatically poor and highly unprofessional. If you cannot edit and contribute properly, then your edits will be taken down, removed, or purged. Sign your comments. Look at the quality of information and edits we have here. And if you can't contribute with proper skill and maturity, then your edits will continue to get purged. Act like an adult. --Nethilia (talk) 00:48, February 22, 2016 (UTC)
