Molly and the Movie Star

When Molly sorts the laundry, a lot of Ricky's socks require mending, and it gives Molly the idea to present the war bond money in one of Ricky's socks.

When the money sock goes missing, Molly rushes into Ricky's room to search his sock drawer and wakes him up to ask if he took his sock from her room last night. Ricky is confused, saying he didn't, and tries to ask what's going on before Molly rushes downstairs.

Ricky helps Molly search the house for the missing money sock, but is unsuccessful. When Molly asks what she was going to do now, Ricky says Molly will just have to go to the rally to explain what happened. When Jill suggests Molly write a note, Ricky says Molly could hide it in a sock and the girls yell at him. When Molly asks what she would tell her class, Ricky suggests she tell them she'll pay them back, calculating that if Molly didn't go to the movies for 200 weeks, around 4 years, she'll have the twenty dollars to pay them back.

In The Film

Ricky is portrayed as having dark brown hair, rather than blond hair as seen in the books. He seems less of a pest; the only time he really bothered anyone was when he talked to Emily about bombing planes and the war on her first night at the McIntires' home.
