Samantha's Bathing Costume (Limited Edition version, Wishes Catalog) with black stockings from collection.
Samantha's Bathing Costume was introduced in 1997 to Samantha's Collection as a limited edition outfit and retired in 1999. Retail cost was $28.
A second version was released in 2005 as Samantha's 1904 Bathing Dress and complemented by Samantha's Beach Umbrella. The set was retired in about 2007. (A later version before retirement did not include the life preserver, bucket, or trowel.) Retail cost was $24.
1997 Limited Edition Version[]
Bathing Outfit[]
Navy blue bathing outfit. Three rows of two decorative mother of pearl buttons on chest. Short puffed sleeves. Collar and cuffs made of a navy print with white polka dots. Elastic at bottom of knee-length pant legs. Opens in back with velcro.
Skirt[]
Matching navy skirt. Waistband uses navy print with white polka dots.
Shoes[]
Navy shoes with white polka dot print. Shoe uses this fabric around all sides and does not have soles. Elastic around edges.
Hat[]
Wide-brimmed straw hat. Trim on brim, peak of hat, and band that uses navy fabric with white polka dots. Band has a bow attached.
Life Preserver[]
White styrofoam circular life preserver. Piney Point printed twice around float in red font. Four white fabric pieces tied around edges to attach white rope.

Bathing Outfit[]
Navy blue bathing outfit. Three rows of two decorative mother of pearl buttons on chest (the buttons are larger and placed closer together than the originals). Short puffed sleeves. Collar and cuffs made of a navy print with white polka dots. Unlike the original set, the collar and cuff also have white piping. Another difference is that the set has a hem at the waist to attach the pant legs; the original used one piece of fabric. Elastic at bottom of knee-length pant legs. Opens in back with velcro.

Unlike the Limited Edition set, the waistband has white piping.
Tights[]
Black tights, similar to Samantha's Meet Outfit.
Shoes[]
Navy shoes with white polka dot print. Unlike the Limited Edition set, these also have white stitched trim around edges with elastic. They also have a white sole insert.
Bonnet[]
White bonnet with elastic around edges. Trim using navy fabric with white polka dots. Trim fabric ties in a small bow on right side of bonnet.
Life Preserver[]
White styrofoam circular life preserver. Piney Point printed twice around float in red font. Four white fabric pieces tied around edges to attach white rope.
Unlike the Limited Edition, the words are raised above the surface of the float in a thinner font.
Bucket[]
Red metal beach bucket. Bucket has navy blue and white printed wave pattern around it with yellow stars above waves.
The product itself is different than the stock photos.
Trowel[]
White metal trowel shovel with light yellow paint on end. Red wave pattern on border of yellow with a red star above that in the center.

- The outfit is based on bathing costumes of the era and would historically been made of wool, cotton or silk fabric.
- This is the only one of the five Historical Limited Edition Outfits from 1997 that was rereleased in any form.
